There seems to be a big debate going on at the moment about what is or is not a recession and whether we're having one now or are likely to in the near future. The money markets are a strange beast, controlled and measured by highly technical and complicated systems yet when it comes down to a crisis situation they resort to attempting to manage people's confidence to rescue things.

The Government announced yet another vague move as it postponed it's planned hike in fuel duty. They're not scrapping it completely despite the recent price rises in fuel providing the same if not more incentive for drivers to cut fuel use. In other news low interest rates on current accounts still allow banks to make billions from customers according to the Office of Fair Trading.

Five days on from the eagerly awaited annual results and the worrying predictions for the future of the UK bank appear unfounded, in fact despite it's losses due to the sub-prime loans situation in the US, Barclays seems to be powering forward with the stock surging back.
